Cox investigates possible data breach: report

Cox Communications is investigating a possible breach exposing the personal information of 40,000 of its employees, according to Motherboard.

“Selling 40k personal details of cox employs [sic],” reads a listing on the dark Web forum The Real Deal Market.The database includes names, email addresses and other information that seems to be genuine, according to a small sample reviewed by Motherboard. Some of the information appears not to be publicly available.

The hacker selling the data suggested that more data may have been stolen, possibly including customer details, but would not reveal how he or she gained access to Cox’s systems.
