As all of you know (unless you have been in Antarctica or a coma), the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was breached over a year ago and just recently became aware of it in a very public way.
June was a hotbed of activity in Washington, D.C. as a local company placed its equipment on the Government’s network and discovered activity that was ultimately determined to be malicious actors. (See past article “For Whom the Bell Tolls”)
On July 9th, OPM Director Katherine Archuleta advised she would not resign in the face of new publicly disclosed details that not 4.2 million, but rather more than 21.5 million records of American citizens were compromised. After about 24 hours, Ms. Archuleta resigned. So much for standing your ground (obviously not a Floridian).
