Illegal version of AVG pop-up

Some users have reported that their AVG has been downgraded to a trial version despite having a license valid until 2018.

Please note that if you see this pop-up and are experiencing the described behavior, you may be a victim of Internet piracy.

We recommend buying a valid license by clicking on link in the pop-up or downgrading to AVG Free.

AVG Anti-Theft service

The AVG Anti-Theft service is designed to help and support AVG AntiVirus for Android users in case their mobile device is lost or stolen. This feature needs to be registered and requires active internet connection on the device. You will then be able to easily Locate, Wipe, Shout or Lock your device through the Remote Management web interface.

Windows 8.1 compatibility
Last week, Windows 8.1 Preview version was released. We would like to inform you that AVG 2013 is compatible with Windows 8.1. However you may receive the Program Compatibility Assistant warning.

We are still investigating source of this issue. However it is possible to download and install beta version of AVG 2014 if you face this issue.

AVG Toolbar and Secure Search configuration

If you want to completely remove the AVG Secure Search and/or AVG Toolbar and associated browser changes, please follow the How to remove AVG Toolbar, homepage and Secure Search from your browser article where you can find detailed instructions.

Strange rootkit detected?
Recently, a few AVG users have reported unknown rootkit infection detected. Although rootkit techniques can be used by legitimate applications for various purposes (e.g. copy protection), we recommend thorough checking the system if you suspect your system is infected. More information about rootkits and how to remove them can be found in the following FAQ articles:
