What They Don’t Teach You in “Thinking Like the Enemy” Class

People much smarter than me once said, “great defense requires understanding the enemy.” And man, that sounds wise as hell! That’s like long bearded dude on a mountaintop type of wise.

And so we run with that and turn it into a training class, just like someone turned the profound wisdom of “there’s plenty more fish in the sea” into a fishing class.

But we cybersecurity pros have got ourselves the “Thinking Like the Enemy” service. Because, you know, we’re pretty dorky like that.

Forget that the concept is “understanding” the enemy, which is a huge difference from thinking like them. Which is how psychologists can treat mentally disturbed people rather than just being them.
