‘Free’ Games Aren’t Totally Free, And Europe Is Ticked About It

The European Commission has invited Apple and Google to participate in a discussion of so-called free-to-play apps and the hidden costs they push on consumers. Many games in Apples App Store and the Google Play marketplace — like the popular Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans or Hay Day — are free to download, but press players to make in-app purchases ranging from $0.99 to $99 or more.
