As the purveyor of smart phones, TVs, fridges, ovens, and even kitchen sinks, Samsung couldnt possibly let the opportunity to create smart glasses pass it by. A new report from the Korea Times cites unnamed Samsung officials who claim the company is presently developing a competitor to Googles Glass — tentatively named Galaxy Glass — which could make its debut at the IFA trade show in Berlin this September. The tone of this disclosure is very similar to what Samsung had to say before the unveiling of its Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which was the companys big novelty at last years IFA. That also evokes the so-called sports glasses that Samsung won a patent for in Korea last year, suggesting that Googles most successful Android partner is indeed preparing to more directly compete with the Mountain View team.
