Samsung is coming closer and closer to overtaking Apple’s tablet market share

Samsung’s worldwide tablet market share in the first quarter rose to 23%, according to a report from ZDNet Korea. Samsung reportedly shipped 14 million tablets during Q1, up 200,000 from the previous quarter, according to unnamed senior executives at Samsung. “We have implemented a comprehensive sales plan for tablets, from emerging countries to developed ones,” one Samsung official told ZDNet. “We have overcome last year’s weak fourth quarter (for the first quarter this year).” Samsung’s mobile chief has previously vowed that Samsung will become the leader in tablets by the end of the year. Samsung remains behind Apple, which was responsible for 30% of global tablet shipments last quarter, according to internal Samsung estimates.
