A common fear of privacy officers is a data breach, the unauthorized acquisition or processing of personal information that is maintained by an organization.
The fear is enhanced by some IT security folks reminding us that “there are two types of companies, those that have been breached and those that don’t know they’ve been breached.” I don’t know any privacy officer that gets a warm and fuzzy feeling when hearing that.
