The Windows 8.1 Preview version has been released and we would like to reassure you that AVG 2013 is compatible with Windows 8.1. However, you may receive the following Program Compatibility Assistant warning.
We are still investigating the source of this issue, but we would like you to know that it is possible to download and install the beta version of AVG 2014 temporarily if you face this issue.
My computer is infected
Many users ask us what to do when they believe that their computer is infected. We have summarized the procedure in this article “My computer is infected. What do I do now?” In case you haven’t installed AVG yet we recommend reading this article: “How to install AVG on an infected computer” article.
AVG Firewall is missing
AVG 2013 users sometimes become confused when they see that AVG Firewall shows the ACTIVATE NOW message.
This is not an error message as Firewall is an additional layer of protection available only in AVG Internet Security and AVG Premium Security. If you would like to maximize your computer’s protection and activate AVG Firewall just click on the Firewall button and follow the instructions.
AVG Trial has expired
When your AVG Trial version has expired you will receive the “Don’t lose your AVG protection!” message (the wording may vary).
There are two options to resume AVG protection once your trial expires.
1) You can purchase a license for the advanced protection you were enjoying.
2) You can remove the trial version and install AVG Free for continued basic protection.
If you have any questions about any of these issues or need help resolving them please contact AVG’s customer care experts.
