Beware of False E-Commerce Websites

It is a very common habit of internet users to download the videos or unknown software from the reputed video sharing websites. There is nothing un-common in doing so, but there could be a chances of luring the users in the form of presenting advertisements to the types of interesting draw contests of false websites which in turn loss of money if attempted to purchase.

I have come across the similar scenario when I have downloaded the video. Please check the below screenshot

Once you accept the contest, the user will be taken to the 100bestbuy.com website which allows the user to take the contest by filling the form and get the iPhone if the user wins the content. There is a high probability of taking this contest or purchase of other electronic items as it offers many electronic goods at very interesting prices.

By having the suspicious on its services in mind, have done some investigations and realized that the website is un-trusty one. To support my investigations, various reputed websites rating services resulted this as a bad website.

100bestbuy is a scammer which steals your money but sends you a faulty or worthless product instead or even nothing at all. Once you ordered any goods from their website and if you want to track the shipment details, it will make users tired to track the same. It is expected to know the status of your shipment from their customer care OR website. They have given contact numbers by using IVR to respond to the queries for the electronic goods that are being sold, but you never success to contact any of their support person, instead of that you will be asked to track it in their website. I have managed to get the some reference ids from their website which generally should not be revealed to public.

But if you check with reference numbers from the concerned courier service, you will be end-up with in-valid numbers and no-way to track.

When you see such cases of scams in online market, there is definitely a high probability of involving “IDENTITY THEFT”, the scammers might steal victim’s information and then later used possible to spam them with more affiliate benefits, sell valid user information to market survey organizations etc.

The Total Defense Research Team suggests the following:

• Be-aware of the new websites that offers products at very interesting prices
• When buying goods online, make sure that trader has good reputation in the market.
• Pay attention to all such e-commerce websites that offers products very cheaply or free and don’t believe at first look itself.
