Description:
The Global Threat Intelligence team at McAfee Labs is looking for an addition to their team, located in Alpharetta, GA, for researching and developing novel threat detection systems.

. Data mining of security data sets

. Large scale data processing using map/reduce and other techniques

. Feature extraction and selection, development and integration of classifier code

. Design of efficient and effective classifiers working on large scale data sets


Required skills:
. B.S. or M.S degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics. PhD is preferred.

. Familiarity with at least one common data mining tools. R or Weka is preferred.

. Good programming skills in Java.

. Proficient with Linux.

. Experience with SQL databases.

Desired skills:
. Experience with supervised learning techniques (e.g. Logistic Regression, Linear Discriminate Analysis, Support Vector Machines, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Bagging/Boosting) and unsupervised learning techniques (e.g. k-Means, Hierarchical Clustering) is a big plus

. Background in network security research (e.g. malware detection, malicious url detection, botnet detection, spam email filtering) is a big plus

. Background in underlying math and statistical theory (e.g. Bayesian learning framework, Markov models, Principal Component Analysis, Factor Analysis) is a plus

. Familiarity with Hadoop and map/reduce is a plus

. Programming skills in Python, Perl, C/C++ are a plus
