Fake AVG scam on Twitter
Twitter has seen a flurry of activity talking about AVG and its products. The tweets contain a link, hidden by a link-shortener and encourages users to go a website made-up to look exactly like the official AVG site.
Once on the page, the user is misguided into thinking that they are downloading antivirus to keep their computer safe but the links lead to malware. Careful examination of small graphical errors and link destinations show that the website is fraudulent.

The AVG Threat Lab team has examined confirmed the discovery of a previously unknown “FakeAV Trojan”. The good news is that our ThreatLabs team have already released an update to AVGs virus definitions file, which means our users are already protected from this dangerous fake.
In the meantime, AVG is working hard with Twitter to shut down the malicious link on the social network.
