Apple released the latest versions of iOS for iPad, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), iPhone 3GS.

This update has version for 4.3.4 for the above devices and iPhone GSM and 4.2.9 for iPhone4 CDMA and it is a sum of three patches which improve the security of the devices.

According to Apple, two of the three patches fix problems in the True Type fonts handling which can occur when viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file and may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. The third patch fixes an invalid type conversion which could allow malicious code to gain system privileges.

Since these are critical security issues, we recommend to update the devices as soon as possible.

To check that the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad has been updated:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Select General
  • Select About. The version after applying this update will be one of the two mentioned above, depending on your device.
