Description: We are looking now for an experienced Software Engineer with development focus to strengthen our team ensuring the superior quality of our content data that is used by our products to provide protection to all our customers. This role provides the opportunity to work in an open and collaborative environment as part of our Content QA team within SophosLabs where our priority is to develop and deliver high quality threat protection content to our customers across all products and platforms in the shortest possible time. To succeed in this role you’ll be passionate about quality and continuous improvement, able to ensure open communication between sites, and keen to use your excellent skills to help SophosLabs be successful. You’ll feel at home within a fast moving team spread between sites, with a commitment to quality and business objectives. Main duties . Planning for test requirements with stakeholders (analysis, devising test strategy, test plan and estimate time/resources) . Identifying and creating automated test cases and test collateral required to test content for anti-virus and anti-spam applications, collaborating with the other engineers and analysts as required . Managing and configuring test infrastructure (e.g. virtual machines, network, etc.) . Analysing results, preparing and publishing reports to stakeholders . Communicating effectively, asking for and offering help when needed . Representing the Content QA team to the wider team, giving reports, taking feedback and evaluating suggestions . Training/mentoring junior team members in development best practices
Required skills: . University or college degree in computer science . Minimum 3 years’ experience in scripting languages, ideally Unix Shell, Perl or Python . Experience in development in a high level language . Experience in Unix/Linux and Windows platforms . Proficiency in using development and configuration management tools (IDE-s, issue tracking, source control, etc.) . Problem solving skills and adaptability . Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities or needs . Being a team player . Fluency in English
Desired skills: . Experience in automated test framework development . Experience with virtualisation technologies . Experience with SQL and database administration . Experience of working in Agile environments . Experience in computer security
