TOKYO (Reuters) – Toshiba Corp, Japans largest computer chipmaker, raised its operating profit outlook more than 10 percent for the year to next March, expecting continued buoyant demand for its NAND memory chips used in smartphones and tablets. Toshiba raised its full-year operating profit forecast to 290 billion yen ($2.96 billion) from 260 billion after reporting a second-quarter operating profit of 81.2 billion yen, up 41.9 percent from a year earlier.
