In their 2020 State of the Mobile Economy report (PDF), the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) predicted that 5G would contribute $2.2 trillion to the global economy by 2034, and in turn, will be “the first generation in the history of mobile to have a bigger impact on enterprise than consumers.” 5G’s always-on connectivity, zero-lag video communication, and augmented reality applications will significantly increase productivity. At the same time, automation, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will drive new business opportunities across healthcare, manufacturing, smart cities, and more.
