UNC at Chapel Hill Suffers Data Breach, 6,000 People Impacted

The personal details of over 6,000 University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill current and former employees, vendors and students were publicly available online between July 30, 2013, and November 23, 2013. The breach was discovered on November 11.

The universitys representatives noted that the information became public after the safeguards that protected the files against public access were accidentally disabled during maintenance procedures.
