In its first nominated category of the telecast tonight, Alfonso Curaons science fiction epic Gravity has taken home the Academy Award for best visual effects (not entirely surprising). In all, Gravity is nominated for ten Academy Awards, including best picture, best director (Alfonso Cuaron), and best actress (Sandra Bullock).
