Vanilla Forums Open Source Software Vulnerable to RCE, Host Header Injection Vulnerability

Popular open source forum software suffers from vulnerabilities that could let an attacker gain access to user accounts, carry out web-cache poisoning attacks, and in some instances, execute arbitrary code. Legal Hackers‘ Dawid Golunski found the vulnerabilities in software which is developed by Vanilla Forums.

Will fileless malware push the antivirus industry into oblivion?

The death of antivirus has been prophesied for years now, but the AV industry is still alive and kicking. SentinelOne, though, believes that in-memory resident attacks, i.e. fileless malware, just might be the thing that pushes it into oblivion. They base their conjecture on the results of the attack detections made through over a million of SentinelOne Endpoint Protection Platform agents, deployed in enterprise environments across the world.

Ransomware, Cyberespionage Dominate Verizon DBIR

Ransomware dominated malware-related data breaches investigated by Verizon last year, appearing in 71 percent of cases, according to the annual Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) released Thursday. Compared to last year’s DBIR report, ransomware attacks are up 50 percent. Still, Verizon suspects the true number of ransomware attacks and victims is likely going under reported.
