The existence of a vulnerability in a portal used internally by PayPal staff was recently disclosed by Germany-based security research company Vulnerability Lab.
Internet users generally like the idea of encrypted email, as it means third parties cant read their private correspondence without expending a great deal of effort. PayPal, however, appeared to take a contrary view. Possibly questioning the services legality, PayPal temporarily refused to accept payments for a crowd-funded campaign for start-up encrypted-email provider ProtonMail.
