AllThingsD Editors Reportedly Near Deal With NBCUniversal to Fund New Site

When AllThingsD completes its diaspora from parent company News Corp. early next year, NBCUniversal is reportedly going to invest in the revamped, renamed tech blog and conference business. Bloomberg reports that a deal has been struck among editors Walt Mossberg, Kara Swisher and the Comcast-owned company to bring over much of its current staff when the website starts anew in January. Under the deal, NBCUniversal and another unidentified investor will control a third of the business, while Mr. Mossberg and Ms. Swisher will take a majority control of it. The partnership is scheduled to be announced on Jan. 2. NBC’s interest in having a stake in the new site signals that the network is looking to beef up its technology coverage online–and potentially on air across its stable of television networks. The pair also couldn’t come to an agreement with News Corp. in retaining its name, so the staff will be employed by a new holding company called Revere Digital (after Paul Revere, so sure?).
