Apple Watch uses four sensors to detect your activity

One of the most distinct elements of the new Apple Watch is a set of four rings built into its backside, and its those rings that house the sensors the watch is using to track wearers activity. The sensors include infrared, visible-light LEDs, and photosensors, which all work together to detect your heart rate. Using that information, Apple says that it can put together a comprehensive look at a persons daily activity.
