BlackBerry is gradually rebuilding its executive team after it fell apart last year. Per Reuters, the Canadian smartphone maker announced on Monday that Ron Louks would be its new “president of devices and emerging solutions.” Louks comes from OpenNMS, where he was CEO. Prior to that, he had experience in the smartphone industry as the chief strategy officer at fellow flailing smartphone vendor HTC and before that he served as chief technology officer at Sony Ericsson. BlackBerry is struggling to maintain relevance as its revenues continue to drop, and it is unclear how the company can emerge. Apple and Samsung dominate the smartphone market, yet BlackBerry’s new CEO still insists that the company is “well-positioned for the future.”
