Congress to probe secret ‘Cuban Twitter’ as lawmakers claim they were misled

Lawmakers want more details on the fake Twitter-like service that the US government launched in Cuba in hopes of spurring protest and heightening discontent among the countrys youth. Rajiv Shah, head of the US Agency for International Development — which was behind the hushed effort — is scheduled to testify before the Senate Appropriations State Department and foreign operations subcommittee on Tuesday. On Thursday, White House press secretary insisted that the mission wasnt covert — a careful distinction that means President Obama may not have been directly aware of ZunZuneos existence. I am not aware of individuals here in the White House who were involved, Carney said.
