Harry Potter series author J. K. Rowling is writing the script for the film, adapting the book — which she wrote between the release of Harry Potter books four and five — for the big screen. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was released in 2001, and purports to be Harry Potters own copy of the textbook of the same name, first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.
