iOS 7.1 has already been jailbroken… sort of

Apple thanking the jailbreak community for finding vulnerabilities in iOS 7, which the company was then able to patch, was a clear sign that an iOS 7.1 jailbreak will take its time to arrive. However, a hacker managed to already jailbreak Apple’s newest iOS version, RedmondPie reports, although, it’s not necessarily great news for jailbreakers. The publication says that winocm, the hacker responsible for this jailbreak, is known for focusing on older iOS devices. Thus, the first untethered iOS 7.1 jailbreak apparently works only on older devices, which means users on Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad models still have to wait for a working iOS 7.1 jailbreak to be released. Older devices are more likely to be jailbroken no matter what iOS version they
