Keystone XL pipeline could face extra delays because of Nebraska’s constitution

The Keystone XL pipeline, the $5.4 billion project that would directly connect Canadas oil supply to the US Gulf Coast, could face future delays following a ruling by a Nebraska judge. In an order today, US District Court Judge Stephanie Stacy said that last Januarys approval by Nebraska Governer Dave Heineman to go ahead with the project violated the states constitution. Thats bad news for the controversial project, which aims to build a 1,179 mile long pipeline from Alberta, Canada all the way to Nebraska in the US. Still needed is a go-ahead from US President Barack Obama, who rejected an application of the pipeline two years ago over environmental concerns.
