Nokia has announced that they will invest $100 million into companies and products that will be important to the connected and intelligent vehicles of the future. The new venture capital fund will seek to invest in (among other things) the mapping and location services that have become a big part of the cellphone makers business. Nokia itself has been heavily focused on location services since 2008, when it purchased map provider Navteq. Currently, Nokia provides map data to Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo, and several car navigation systems.
