Noting that the federal government must lead the way in the United States use of clean energy, President Obama issued a directive today to further reduce reliance on non-renewable sources of electricity. Through a memorandum, Obama ordered the government to more than double its current reliance on renewable energy by 2020. If the goal is met, at least 20 percent of the governments energy will come from renewable sources by then, with that number slowly rising up beginning with a minimum of 10 percent in 2015.
