Recoil in techno terror from French DJ Gesaffelstein’s ‘Pursuit’ video

Gesaffelstein is French DJ Mike Lévy, and the video for his song Pursuit, released in June, is both unnerving and slightly NSFW. Shot on a camera constantly backing away from a series of odd images — a squad of clones carrying assault rifles, an eerily silent knighting ceremony, a bare-breasted woman screaming wordlessly at the lens — makes it feel as though the viewer is rightly recoiling from the creepy subject matter. Its a perfect fit for the song itself: a driving, dark, destructive beat punctuated by what sounds like the anguished screams of a dying robot.
