Ryan Seacrest’s Typo isn’t the only keyboard BlackBerry has to fear

Even if BlackBerry successfully sues Ryan Seacrest’s Typo keyboard attachment for patent infringement it could just end up playing whack-a-mole with countless other BlackBerry-style iPhone keyboard attachments. The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern reports that, in addition to Typo, SoloMatrix has been making minor waves with its new Spike keyboard attachment that avoids some of the pitfalls of the Typo. Unlike the Typo, Spike doesn’t cover up the iPhone’s home button and actually features a hinge design that lets you open and close it so you can access the full touch display without taking off the entire extension.
