Tablets Arrive on NFL Sidelines

Football is getting more high tech than ever this season, as the NFL has partnered with Microsoft to create the Sideline Viewing System. This system will allow players and coaches to digitally study the other team using Microsoft Surface tablets, a tactic which was previously done using printed photographs.  The use of Surfaces on the sidelines marks a shift in NFL regulations: this is the first time it is legal for teams to use electronic devices during a game. They were deployed for the first time at last nights Hall of Fame Game exhibition between the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills. NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told SFGate, We think its an opportunity to use technology to improve the game on the field.
