The US Naval Observatory is home to a set of incredibly precise atomic clocks that record Americas official time. The clocks, and the service they provide, are presided over by Dr. Demetrios Matsakis, chief scientist for the observatorys time services department. Dr. Matsakis calls the clocks of the observatory his babies. The most advanced are so accurate that they wont lose or gain a second over 300 million years of operation, but Matsakis says more precise clocks are coming.
