Even if it was as middling as it was technically impressive, fans downloaded Peter Jacksons The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to make it the most pirated movie of 2013. According to TorrentFreak, the film was downloaded an estimated 8.4 million times. Some of the biggest movies of the year come up close behind The Hobbit in the rankings. TorrentFreak does note, however, that it doesnt account for online streaming and cyberlocker downloads in its estimates.
