NASA hopes to change that in 2015, when it sends a bunch of seeds to the surface of the moon to see if they can germinate and grow in lunar gravity and radiation. This, NASA said in its press release, is the first step in a possible attempt to colonize and conquer that tide-causing space rock once and for all. Germination is the first step in plant growth and thus forms the focus of this first experiment. This would be extracted from images of the plant growth area.
