If you live in a city and you own a car, chances are you’ve gotten an annoying parking ticket because you forgot to move your car off your street on the day your city rolls through it with a street sweeper. The good news, however, is that driving statistics app MetroMile is working on a new system that will send an alert to your smartphone on the day your street is due to be cleaned. The location-based app will apparently be able to detect where your car is parked and will then cross-reference your parking spot with the city’s weekly cleaning schedule so it can alert you within 12 hours that you’ll need to move your car.
