Ryn Weavers OctaHate has quickly grown into the surprise pop hit of the summer, racking up well over 600,000 listens on SoundCloud in just the week since it was released. Charli XCX and Passion Pits frontman help build a star As Mic reports, however, theres a good reason why thats now changing: OctaHate is in fact a collaboration between Weaver and some top songwriters, including Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos, Charli XCX, electronic producer Cashmere Cat, and pop producer Benny Blanco, whos worked on hits like Katy Perrys I Kissed a Girl. And once it was recorded, tweets from its producers and their friends helped get the word out.
