Twitter ain’t what it used to be

As we grow savvier about using social networks like Twitter, their usefulness starts to diminish. Thats the premise of Jenna Worthams op-ed for The New York Times, wherein she makes the argument that what used to once be a rapid-fire news distribution system has devolved into a platform for self-aggrandizement. Were still sharing the news, she says, but we now do it couched in sassy comments and laconic observations, straining to be the loudest or the most retweeted and referred to as the person who captured the splashiest event of the day in the pithiest way.
