12 minutes after taking off from New Yorks JFK airport on July 17th, 1996, Trans World Airlines Flight 800 exploded, killing all 230 people on board. The FBI and the NTSB conducted lengthy investigations into the crash of TWA Flight 800 at the time of its detonation, eventually determining that the explosion was likely caused by the ignition of fuel in the planes center wing fuel tank. TWA Flight 800 used three smoking guns to question the NTSB and FBIs official stances on the crash, but failed to adequately justify some of the alternate theories it raised.
