Description: As a member of Avira’s Protection QA team you will significantly contribute to improve the quality of Avira’s detection technologies in constant interaction with an international team located in Germany and Romania. You will analyze files and separate malicious from good ones. Independently you will find the best solutions to cope with an always growing amount of data in order to keep Avira’s QA systems up to date. After you have finished an intensive training in malware analysis, you will be part of an international team whose objective it is to keep the quality of Avira’s detection technologies on a constant high level. With the new gained knowledge about malware you are able to analyze malicious files and decide about their fate. You will research how certain 3rd party software vendors distribute and update their software, you will create monitoring mechanisms in order to keep track of all changes. You will research possibilities how to monitor the Google Play Store for new Android apps, how to monitor download portals for new software updates and many challenges in those fields. Afterwards it is also your responsibility to set up processes in order to collect those software bundles fully automated and in real-time in the future. You will find ways to process the huge amount of new gained data in an automatic manner; you will learn to analyze the data and decide on your own what data is important for the QA systems. You will follow that kind of agile process in agreement with the beneficiary of the QA systems.
Required skills: You have a degree in computer sciences. Your high level of self-motivation, your eager will to complete tasks very thorough together with your good knowledge in Windows operating systems and the PE file format will lead you to outstanding results when analyzing and judging files according to its code and behavior. Your ability to think out of the box in combination with your good skills in Python and Batch will let you create excellent process automation. Ideally you are also familiar with C/C++ and AutoIt.
