In an effort to meet the growing need for skilled cybersecurity, forensics and global security and intelligence experts, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Ariz., campus is launching what the University is calling itsCollege of Security and Intelligence (CSI).
The new college will provide students with hands-on, real-world experience in computer and forensic sciences, offensive and defensive cybersecurity operations intelligence, counterintelligence analysis and operations, foreign policy and international law, counterterrorism, environmental threats, and global, regional and homeland security.
According to the University, the CSI will house the Cyber Intelligence and Security degree program established last year, and that two new degree programs will debut this fall – a bachelor’s in Forensic Biology and a master’s in Security and Intelligence Studies.
According to Cisco’srecently released 2014 Annual Security Report, organizations are struggling to find security professionals who have the skills to monitor and secure networks from the sophisticated technology and tactics used attackers. Most organizations do not have the people of the systems to continuously monitor extended networks and detect infiltrations, and then apply protections in a timely and effective manner, Cisco said.
“This newest college at Embry-Riddle in Prescott, Ariz., will continue to expand its role as a premier collegiate educator of intelligence professionals to the government and industry, as well as providing an opportunity for expanded partnerships and research in cybersecurity, forensics, and security and intelligence,” said Prescott Campus Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers.
