If there is one thing to be learned from recent editions of CES and IFA, its that TV technology has yet to reach its limits. Even before the novelty of 4K resolution TVs has worn off, Sharp and Samsung are reaching for new heights at CES 2014, where they both presented TV prototypes with 8K resolution. Sharp made a splash at CES with the presentation of its new 85-inch TV prototype, which in addition to offering 8K resolution (7,680 x 4,320 pixels), is capable of showing 3D images without requiring the viewer to wear glasses. Something of a UHD pioneer, Sharp unveiled its 85-inch Super Hi-Vision 8K TV prototype at IFA 2011 in Berlin.
